During the last full weekend of September every year, the town of Jonesboro, Indiana, belongs to 15,000 motorcyclists, an army in black leather, t-shirts, boots, and tattoos, here for what has become the State of Indiana’s largest biker rally. Virtually overnight, this rural town of 1,275 population becomes the loudest place in Indiana.
With a mass of motorcycles roaring up and down the streets, Main Street Jonesboro has the surreal look of a classic motorcycle movie. From well-heeled professionals with their expensive motorcycles to all kinds of working men and women, with children in tow. Bikers come from across the United States and dozens of other countries for the annual Waldo Bike Ride, bike shows contest, stunts, field events, vendors, music, and merrymaking.
Nearing two decades, the Jonesboro River Rally has become the largest annual motorcycle rally in the state of Indiana. As a result of the events’ continuous and tremendous growth, the event organizers offer a new-something-special every year—from more specialty vendors to a growing list entertainment.
